How God Stopped Me from Converting to Wicca

This piece is a testimony of a saving work that God my Savior did in my life.

He didn’t have to do it, but He did and today I am exceedingly thankful that He did.

In this piece, I will share the story of how God prevented me from forsaking Christianity and converting to Wicca.

At the time I was a severely backslidden Christian. I got saved not even two years before this so, therefore, I was an immature believer, and several people caused me to stumble in the months between getting saved and this event.

It was in late January of 2006.

I was nineteen years old and a senior in high school.

I slept on the sofa in my parents’ living room every night and this night was no different.

A few months before this I had decided to keep a flashlight on me at all times, to the point of even sleeping with one in my pants pocket.

During my late teen years, before and after getting saved, I had an increasing interest in Wicca.

It seemed like a fun, peaceful, romantic and tolerant way of life, whereas Christianity still appeared abusive and controlling to me.

The enemy of my soul put those delusions in my head with great craftiness and malice.

If that wasn’t enough, I also had the assumption that there were lots of ample-sized women and girls who were practitioners of Wicca and this was a chance for me to meet some. Everyone who knows anything about me knows how I strongly gravitate towards bigger females and back then was no different.

Earlier, that very day, I had announced to my immediate family about how I was considering becoming a Wiccan.

My Dad was the most upset, but the others didn’t have much reaction.

I went to sleep excited about my decision.

As I slept on that sofa, a severe thunderstorm developed during the night.

Lightning or wind had damaged some grid infrastructure and knocked off the current.

I was woken up by wind, lightning, and thunder.

The house was pitch black, I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face.

So, I reached in my pants pocket for my flashlight, but it wasn’t there.

I knew it had fallen into the sofa, so I began to feel for it in the total darkness.

At that exact moment, a freight train was passing on the outskirts of my community.

My location was 3-4 miles south of the railroad line and normally the only way to hear a train was to be outside.

However, a North wind was blowing which carried and amplified the rumbling sound of the freight train.

As much as I am obsessed with trains, I didn’t think it was a train.

I sincerely thought it was a tornado and headed straight for me.

Think about it, there was a severe thunderstorm going on which was powerful enough to knock out the electricity. I always knew that severe thunderstorms can spawn tornadoes and late January is a frequent time for tornadoes in Louisiana. And not only that, I was always told that a tornado sounds like a freight train.

I was utterly terrified, probably more than I had ever been in my life.

The thoughts of how just hours ago I was planning on abandoning my Christian faith for Wicca haunted my heart and mind.

In the pitch darkness, I tried in vain to get to my parents’ bedroom and warn them of what I thought was a tornado but bumped and tripped all over the furniture.

In complete desperation, I called on God.

A split second later, the engineer of that train sounded the whistle.

I still panicked at first, because I thought it was warning sirens, not realizing that the Parish I was living in doesn’t have warning sirens.

God then sternly told me it was just a train and afterward, He asked me if I still wanted to become a Wiccan.

About that time my Mom and Dad woke up and saw that I was up as well.

I don’t remember the words we all exchanged but we soon went back to sleep.

At daybreak, the electricity was back on.

I also located my flashlight that was deep in the sofa and even thanked God for helping me find it.

I then got ready for school.

I still would take me a few years to completely return to God, but I pretty much gave up on converting to Wicca after what had happened that night.

If you are running from God, stop this instant and do a total 180 Degree turn. He will lovingly take you back into His arms, no questions asked.

Please, don’t run from God as long as I did, because if you do, the enemy of your soul will rob you of everything good and pure…

A Review of the Maglite ML25LT LED Flashlight

Just for the record, I do not own the featured image on this page. Rather it is property of Mag Instrument, Inc.

Similarly to December of 2019 (but not as bad), money was tight again for February of 2020.

I wasn’t able to get out much or splurge much either.

However, a family member owed me $10.

Since all my other expenses were paid, I could get some groceries and something small for myself with that $10.

So on February 27, 2020, I went shopping at the Wal*Mart in East Houma, Louisiana.

As I always do, I checked out the flashlight section. It was there that I saw several quality flashlights on clearance.

One of them was a Maglite ML25LT LED flashlight going for $5.00 marked down from ~$20! I knew I couldn’t pass that up, since, almost three years prior, I had owned the incandescent version of it and it performs very well.

And it is that flashlight that this piece will be a review thereof.

I guess because of the increasing amount of crime of which our society is unfortunately subject to, Wal*Mart keeps even their flashlights under lock and key. So, to purchase this flashlight, I had to get an associate to unlock the glass case. I had to talk to several people and wait several more minutes to get that done, but finally, someone unlocked the glass.

After I selected the flashlight I had my eyes on, I walked to the grocery section and bought a few snacks.

The line to check out was agonizingly long, but then I finally checked out.

My total was just under $10 and I was happy.

Then, upon exiting Wal*Mart, the customers in front of me who had an extremely large order were checked by a doorman upon exiting and I thought I would be as well so I waited behind them, only to be told they didn’t need to check my purchases.

Talk about a waste of my time.

If Wal*Mart keeps up with these practices, no matter how necessary, it will begin to lose customers.

I get that these practices are in place in response to the ever-increasing amount of crime our society is subjected to, but the good are suffering for the bad.

Anyway, let me get off my soapbox because my preaching of morality probably does no good.

Now let’s talk about the flashlight I bought:

So when I got home, I unpacked it and installed two sparingly used Alkaline C batteries. Immediately, I was impressed by the brightness!

Days later, I discovered that mine is an updated version of the original ML25LT because it has two power settings whereas the original only had one.

To turn the flashlight on, turn the head counter-clockwise and turn until you have the beam pattern of your desire be it to spot or flood or something in between.

At the most optimum level of focus, the ML25LT is rated to have a beam distance of 337 Meters or ~1,105 Feet. This rating is believable as I will explain so in a bit.

On High Mode, it is rated to have a Light Output of 192 Lumens, which is also believable and it seems brighter than that, though I don’t have access to light measuring instruments.

The Peak Beam Intensity is rated at 28,474 Candelas, which is maybe why it seems to be brighter than 192 Lumens-there is quite a difference between Lumens and Candela/Candlepower, don’t be fooled!

It is rated to survive the impact of a 1 Meter fall onto concrete, which knowing Maglite, it can probably sustain much worse than that and still function perfectly! I’ve read stories of Maglites withstanding far worse abuse and still working, Mr. Maglica probably gives such a humble rating for CYB purposes.

It has a Water Resistance rating of IPX4, which means it is immune to splashing water from any direction (like commuting on foot at night in the rain.) Again, Tony Maglica probably agreed to that rating for CYB purposes because I’ve read testimonials of Maglite being immersed in deep water for months to years and still working. But don’t try and test the limits.

At High Power, it has a runtime of 7 Hours on two fresh Alkaline C sized batteries and at Low Power, it has a run time of 72 Hours on the same power source. Those specifications are pretty gosh durn generous if you ask me!

While I did buy this on impulse, I do find myself carrying it in my backpack for two reasons:
It is far lighter and more compact than my Bushnell T750L, which was weighing down and probably would eventually damage my backpack.
AND
While not as bright as that Bushnell, it is still bright enough for the purpose I was ultimately using the Bushnell, which was night time commuting on foot.

In December of 2019 when I purchased my Bushnell I was not attending church, but about two weeks later I found another church and I love it there. One of my evening foot commutes is for a weekly Bible Study. In the dead of winter, it is dark both going to the evening church service and returning, however, in the very late winter, spring and summer it is only dark for the return commute. I also sometimes make groceries or buy a small meal at night and I go on foot to save gasoline.

When the beam is set to focus, the downrange light foes very far and maybe even further than the rated 337 Meters or 1,105 Feet, of course, I’m just eyeballing it. And I can lower the power level by turning it off then quickly back on if I think the brightness will disturb neighbors or motorists I encounter while walking around at night.

There had been some talk floating around for years that Maglite was late in the game as for coming out with high powered, high quality LED flashlights, but now I think they are finally catching up. While they may not be a bright as their fellow American SureFire, they may be on par with the high-quality Chinese lights such as NiteCore.

Tony Maglica will be turning 90 years old this year (2020 at the time of writing this) if he hasn’t already, so I only wonder how much longer will he stay at the reins of Mag Instrument?

I hope whoever takes his place will have the same commitment to top quality and American-based manufacturing!

My main EDC flashlight which I have on my person almost constantly is a Streamlight JR LED. This Maglite ML25LT does seem brighter and depending on how you look at it, it is. While the Streamlight JR puts out a whopping 225 Lumens, the Peak Beam Intensity is only 2,700 Candela and the Beam Distance is only 104 Meters or ~341 Feet. Did I not say there was a difference between Lumens and Candela/Candlepower? I will still probably carry my Streamlight JR no matter what, but while I’m commuting on foot at night, I would like something more powerful, hence the Maglite ML25LT. The Bushnell was also good, but too bulky.

All in all most of the time and especially this time, Maglite is a tried and true winner!

I give this product a 5 out of 5 stars!

This, therefore, concludes my review of the Maglite ML25LT LED flashlight.

I hope, you, the reader, have been informed and maybe a little entertained.

Thank you for taking the time to read my review and may God richly bless you!

Trustworthy

I began writing this in October or November of 2008 and edited it several times.  If it seems dated, that’s because it takes place in November of 2006.

It doesn’t teach the lessons I would usually teach, but I still think it is a sweet story.

Though the setting is a city called Melody, the real area that inspired it was Bayou Cane,  Louisiana, along West Park and West Main, around the time of Thanksgiving.  Between late October and Christmas, that area has always been inspirational for me even before I started writing.

So, without further ado, here is the story:

On a chilly November evening, a youngster caught somewhere between a boy and man named Luke Frost was getting off of his job at a gift shop in the city of Melody. He went to the circuit breakers and cut off the electricity; then locked all the doors.

Luke was a short and skinny nineteen-year-old with dark, slightly curled hair. Because he was starting out in life, he did not yet own a home or vehicle. Instead, he walked everywhere and rented a small one-room apartment.

On this particular evening, he was not in a rush to get home. Luke decided to walk through the park and watch the sun setting in the sky. After strolling for a spell in the park, he looked at his watch.

The hands indicated five thirty-eight, and he muttered, “I guess I will stay here two more minutes.” The time passed by quickly and it was now dark. “Well Luke, better get going.” He mentioned to himself. He knew he would be hard to spot in the dark as he was dressed in black pants and a navy blue work shirt. He also knew that the park was a dangerous place to be after dark. He began running to make his way out and safely get home.

Earlier that day Rebeka Stanley was riding on a bus from Blues City, with only a backpack full of possessions. She was on the run from some dangerous people. When the bus arrived at the station in Melody, she got off the bus and continued on foot, with no idea of where she was going. However, she felt halfway safe because her adversaries had no idea of her whereabouts. She saw a street sign which indicated the entrance to Melody Park and decided to go in. She also realized that is was now getting dark and cold. Her cell phone was dead, and to make matters worse she had nowhere to go nor did she know her way around Melody. Scared and lonely she decided to go inside the park restroom to at least give her time, rest and protection from the elements. As she walked into the entrance, a tall, dark angry-looking man shouted sexual remarks and made an advance at her. Immediately she pepper-sprayed him in the face and ran in the opposite direction. Frightened even more she did not realize the perpendicularity of the walkway in the park as she was sprinting until she and Luke Frost literally crossed paths. Both were knocked to the ground. A moment later Luke got up and pulled a flashlight from the side pocket of his pants, and shined it to see whom he had bumped into, as it was now pitch dark.

He saw Rebeka sitting down with her knees up, she was a very beautiful blond dressed in a brown knee-length skirt, a white blouse, and a black sweater. Luke was flashed by her and could see right up her skirt but quickly turned away from her, as he automatically had a reverence for her.

He asked, “Are you all right?” He paused but then continued “I did not see you coming and I am terribly sorry that I knocked you down…If there is anything I can do to make it up to you, I’d really like to.” He reached his hand out to her and helped her up as she smiled.

Back on her feet, she said, “I am also sorry I didn’t see you coming either.”

Luke stated with great concern, “It is dangerous here at this hour, you should be inside.”

Rebeka replied, “I…”

“What’s that?” Luke asked.

Rebeka continued “I have no place to go and some man almost had his way with me. That is why I was running.”

Luke now felt not only an attraction but now felt compelling compassion towards her as he said, “I could take you to my place, only if you would want that is.” Rebeka smiled awkwardly and there was a discomforting silence until Luke spoke again softly “Hey, I am sorry if I freaked you out. I am merely suggesting a place for you to be safe and out of the cold. I was not trying where I can take advantage of you. It’s just…”

Rebeka smiled warmly and said, “Go on.”

Luke continued, “It’s just I felt attracted to you when I first saw you. I now also feel much compassion towards you.”

Rebeka now smiled from ear to ear as she spoke sweetly, “I am hoping you really mean that.”

Luke put his hand towards her and held her as he said, “Of course I do. Now, exactly what brings you to Melody anyway?”

Paranoia struck her and she said, “Can I tell you later? I am afraid someone is listening.”

Luke replied, “Tell me whatever, whenever, wherever.”

Rebeka beamed and said, “You seem so sweet; I wish I could trust you.”

Luke nodded as he looked at her and said “I totally understand, the way I see it is trust is something that must be earned. It is up to you if you want to give me the chance to earn your trust.”

Rebeka smiled and said, “Yes I am willing to give you the chance. I mean what other choice do I have?”

He smiled took her by the hand and said, “My name is Luke Frost, by the way.”

She replied, “I’m Rebeka Stanley.”

Quickly they left the park and headed to Luke’s apartment. Rebeka undid her backpack, pulling out several changes of clothes, an MP3 player, and her phone with the charger. In the meantime, Luke removed his smart-phone and flashlight from his pockets and set them on top of his coffee table. They both sat down on the convertible sofa in peaceful silence.

Luke then asked, “So why are you in Melody?”

“A co-worker of mine was assaulted and I called the police. The assailants were arrested, but the case was unfortunately thrown out so now they were after me. I had to leave town, at least until this situation blows over.”

“How old are you anyway? I’m just realizing you might be jailbait and I might regret taking you to my apartment.”

“I’m twenty-five, actually, but I’ll take that as a compliment. How old are you though?”

“Nineteen.”

“You’re a baby.”

“I don’t know, I’ve got a job and I’ve got this place.”

“True. You’re doing very well.”

“Thanks, that means an awful lot coming from someone like you.”

Rebeka smiled and then there was an awkward silence.

Boredom and hormones overcame the situation and Luke decided to ask her, “What would you like to do Rebeka?”

To which she replied, “I feel dirty and would like to shower.”

Luke smiled and said as he led her to the bathroom “Right this way.”

He turned on the water for her and then walked out. She undressed, stepped in the bathtub and drew the curtain while Luke sat on his futon and waited for her. While showering she realized that she was starting to have feelings for Luke, and how wonderful she thought he was and decided to physically express to him those thoughts and feelings.

She walked out of the shower with nothing but a towel wrapped around her. Luke was sitting on the sofa when she walked into the room and said, “Guess who?”

Luke felt a tingle as he replied, “Wow you are so beautiful.”

“I am a mess.”

“Well, I still think you are beautiful.”

Rebeka blushed and then kissed Luke on the cheek as she said, “I know that I have found someone awesome!”

Luke tingled and twitched as he asked, “You really think I am awesome?”

Rebeka replied “Of course I do. Now, why don’t I change into something more comfortable.”

Luke replied, shaking, “I’ll be waiting here.” She winked and the walked off to change. When she came back into the room she was wearing a long white nightgown, with her hair down. She smiled brightly at Luke and asked him as he gazed at her, “Do you think I am pretty?”

Luke replied, “I think you are hot.” She pranced up to him, hugged him tightly and kissed his mouth as she said, “If you haven’t guessed already, I am also attracted to you as well.”

Luke smiled and said, “So what do you want to do right now?”

Rebeka replied with a bright twinkle in her eyes as she rubbed his chest “I saw you shaking earlier, you must have been shivering. Let me warm you up and snuggle with you.” Rebeka then paused for a second and said with slight anxiety “If you are all right with it that is.”

Luke smiled from ear to ear and said, “Of course it’s all right.” With that Luke rested his head on Rebecca’s belly and they covered under a blanket as they fell asleep.

A half-hour passed when Luke woke up to the sound of Rebecca’s belly gurgling. Right away he asked her “Are you hungry?”

She asked with a startled laugh “Luke, how could you tell?”

“I could hear your stomach!” Luke replied as he kissed her navel, then continued “I have nothing fancy, but I do have food.”

She answered, “Oh that’s fine; I didn’t have anything to eat since this morning.”

With that Luke led Rebeka to his table, microwaved her elbow macaroni with cheese and poured her some grape juice. After they finished supper, Luke turned on his world band receiver and tuned in a foreign station from The Ukraine. The music coming in over the airwaves sounded very sultry and provocative.

Rebeka looked at him in the eye and asked, “Could we dance?”

Luke answered “Sure, but don’t laugh at my two left feet.”

“Nah, I think you are sexy no matter what.” At first, the music was slow but then it switched to a fast-paced song. Rebeka swiveled her hips and spun around. Luke was extremely turned on. Rebeka playfully pushed him onto the futon and then hopped on top of him and kissed him wildly.

“I want to make love to you, but you’re so innocent,” Rebeka said with frustration.

“We don’t have to. We can just cuddle,” Luke replied, then continued,  “You seem innocent too though.”

“But my innocence was violently taken from me as a child,”  Rebeka said stoically.

“Then in my book, you’re still innocent!”

“Thanks, you are really sweet, Luke!”  Rebeka said as she kissed him, then continued,  “And it makes me want you even more though.”

“We will when the time is right and it will be perfect for us!”

“Where have you been all my life?”

“In Melody.”

Rebeka then giggled at Luke’s response.

Luke began to plant kisses on Rebeka’s head as she rested it on his chest.

“I do need some rest.”

“Then sleep in my arms. I will kiss you until you fall asleep!”

Soon they both fell asleep, in each others’ arms.

The next morning Luke woke up early. He quickly prepared breakfast then brought it to her as he gently rubbed her face, and said, “Time to wake up, I made you breakfast in bed. It’s just toast with jam cereal with milk though.”

Rebeka stretched and moaned as she spoke, “Still, I can totally get used to this.”

Luke replied, “Well, by all means, get used to it!”

She smiled and asked, “But where will I stay?”

Luke hugged her and replied, “Over here, of course.”

Rebeka wrapped herself around him and then said, “I think I love you, Luke.”

Luke replied “I love you as well, Rebeka. Thank you for counting me trustworthy.”

While this seems like the beginning of a wonderful love story, it is likely more or less an infatuation and a matter of circumstance.  However, there is a much Greater Love and it is available to all who accept It.  Best of all, it does not have the stringent prerequisites that are in place for carnal love.

A Teenage Fantasy

I began writing this in 2017 and into 2018 then finished it. I cut off the end and won’t share it publicly because of the sinful situations it contains. However, I feel the rest of the story teaches a very good lesson so that I why I want to share it with the world. It takes place in 2001 and the narrator is loosely based on me, though this never happened to me. That is why it is called “A Teenage Fantasy!”

So, here it is, without further ado:

…Late Spring 2001…

*HOW WE MET*

It’s springtime and school is going to be letting out in just a few weeks.

It’s a bright Saturday afternoon in May and I’m forced to be having a picnic with my family.

What teenager in his right mind wants to do such a thing?

So I hurriedly eat my piece of fried chicken, then go explore the park.

I look around curiously, happy to have to time by myself; something I hardly get.

I walk up and down the sidewalks and ponder life to myself.

Suddenly, I see her. She is sitting on a bench and sobbing.

Despite tears flowing almost profusely from her eyes, I think she is very beautiful.

I have the urge to comfort her, but I don’t know what to say.

However, I know I’ll regret it if I just pass her by.

She’s pleasantly plump and my kind of pretty. I very attracted to her and, naturally, want to make her feel better.

Maybe I could be a friend to her, hopefully though, something more.

My, God, I’m starting to have feelings for her.

Speaking of God, ‘God please give me the courage to talk to her and the wisdom to say the right thing.’

I walk up to her bench and then say, “Hi.”

She looks up and then waves at me.

Awkwardly I stand there.

Finally, I ask her, “May I sit with you?”

She wipes her eyes and then says, “I guess if you want.”

“I think you’re very pretty,” I tell her.

She looks at me and humbly smiles, then says, “Thanks, but you obviously don’t see how fat I am.”

There’s a brief silence but then I continue, “I mean what I said; I think you’re very pretty.”

She smiles even more and says, “You’re so sweet to tell me that.”

“What do you think about me?”

“I think you’re cute, but you seem kind of young.”

“I’m about to be fifteen.”

“I knew you were young, I’m about to be seventeen.”

“I would still like to get to know you if you indeed give me a chance.” I pause then continue, “What are you upset about anyway?”

“My boyfriend dumped me because I started gaining weight.”

“Well, it’s his loss, not yours. I might have just met you, but I know for sure what he did was cruel and not to mention so foolish. You don’t know how I’d be overjoyed to be with someone like you.”

“It’s his fault I started gaining weight too. Since I’m about to turn seventeen, which would make it legal for him to sleep with me in this state, my mom put me on birth control. It was all so he wouldn’t get me pregnant, then I started gaining weight because of the shots and he dumped me.”

“If you give just me a chance, I wouldn’t ever dump you. I’d also be willing to wait however long for you.”

“You’re so sweet. In just a little while, all the girls are going to be after you.”

“But what if I want you instead?”

“Why me?”

“Because I think you’re pretty and, I know it’s quick, but I already have feelings for you. Please don’t hurt me and turn me down.” I pause, then continue, “Give me a chance and I will do my best to treat you like a princess.”

“Okay, I’ll give you a chance, now you give me a hug!”

“Gladly!”

We embrace and she pulls my body close to hers.

I hold her and gently rub her back and sides.

She smiles at me, but her eyes are still wet.

“There’s something I would like to do, but I need your permission first.”

“What is it?”

“I’d like to kiss those tears off your face.”

“You may!”

I begin to gently kiss her eyes and cheeks.

She runs her fingers through my curly hair.

“I’m glad you’re giving me a chance,” I tell her.

“Is there a way we can keep in touch?” She asks me.

“I can give you my parents’ house number, my AIM screen name, and my ICQ number.”

“Cool beans, I’ll give you mine as well, plus my cell number, but only call it after nine at night,” She says, then takes a Palm Pilot out of her purse and enters my information. Afterward, she writes her information on my arm.”

I then lay on the bench with my head in her lap, staring up at her beautiful face.

We stay there for a while completely lost in time and space.

Finally, I hear my dad shouting my name.

In distress, I tell her, “I have to go now, but I’ll call you or instant message you as soon as I can.”

“I’m looking forward to it.”

“Could I kiss you goodbye?” I humbly ask her.

“Of course. In fact, you better kiss me!”

Our lips meet, then passionately lock.

We kiss again and again until I hear my dad shout my name once more, then I know I have to leave.

“I’ll contact you as soon as I can.”

“I’ll be waiting,” she says with a smile and dry eyes.
…A FEW WEEKS PASS, THEN…
*A DREARY SUMMER AFTERNOON*

On a dreary summer afternoon, I find myself home alone. My parents and siblings went run errands and won’t be home for a few hours. So, with that, I get on the phone and call my girlfriend. Yes, she is seventeen and I am only fifteen, but I love her to the moon and back. I think she loves me too or at least that is what I hope. No one in my family knows about this relationship and I plan to keep it that way for as long as possible.

The phone rings only once and then I hear her beautiful voice.

“Hey, you!” She answers with excitement.

“I’m home alone if you want to come over, baby.”

“I would love to come and see you! Let me just get my things and I’ll be right over.”

“I can’t wait for you to hold me again!”

“And I can’t wait to see your cute face again!” She thinks I am cute. I feel like I am on cloud nine when she tells me that.

“It looks like it might rain, so please be careful driving here.”

“You know I will. Now let me hang up so I can come over.”

“All right, baby, I love you.”

“I love you too.”

We hang up and I anxiously await her arrival while standing on my parents’ driveway. I pace up and down like a madman until I finally see her hand me down Jetta Wagon approaching my parents’ house.

I begin to smile from ear to ear as she pulls up.

She parks her car then steps out dressed in a white blouse and a pink skirt. Seeing her dressed like this makes me attracted to her with a hot passion.

We lovingly embrace then kiss with ecstasy. She runs her fingers through my curly hair and I gently caress her porcelain face.

After greeting each other with much affection, she asks, “What would you like to do?”

“We could go walk in the back fields and find a place to lay down look up at the sky and talk.”

“That’s a good idea, it reminds me of a song I heard a while back.”

I give her my hand and say, “Let’s go then.”

We walk through the back fields, looking for a spot to be alone together. Finally, we find the perfect spot situated in the long green grass. She sits down, then cradles my head in her lap. I couldn’t be more content as I looked up into her beautiful brown eyes.

She wraps her legs around me, then says, “You’re mine all mine! I want you forever!”

So, I reply, “You don’t know how happy I am to hear that, but what do you see in me?”

“You’re cute as can be. You’re so sweet. And I love how you are such a noble person.” She pauses, then asks, “Do you want me forever as well?”

“Yes I most surely do, no one wanted me before I met you, but you did. I’ll always remember that and do everything I can to keep you!” I pause then continue, “It’s not only that though, but you are also so beautiful, more than I ever dreamed. You also give my life meaning. I know there are plenty of guys your age and older who would want to be yours, but you choose me. I feel so honored.”

“None of them would make me feel as special as you do.” She says as she kisses my face.

Suddenly there is a flash of lightning.

We both jump in fear, then rush to her car to wait out the storm…
…ANOTHER DAY OR TWO PASSES, THEN…

*DESIRING PRIVACY*

My parents found out about my girlfriend a few days ago and their reaction was better than I expected. They accepted her and they even like her. The fact that I am fifteen and she is seventeen didn’t phase my family at all. However, we rarely have any privacy now. It seems that my whole family watches our every move. We lay together on my bed and snuggle each other. The denim overalls and tight baby blue shirt she is wearing hug her body and show all of her curves and features. Seeing her dressed like this drives me wild.

We share a kiss when my brother walks in on us.

“Get out!” I tell him.

“My room too,” He replies.

“Just pretend he isn’t here,” My girlfriend whispers.

We continue to kiss and caress each other.

My brother turns on some vulgar rap music, full blast. My girlfriend and I are appalled at the atrocious lyrics.

We eventually leave the room and go outside.

It’s hot and sunny outside.

We both sit on the glider and talk.

“Your brother is so annoying,” She tells me.

“He definitely is, but I think he’s jealous of me. After all, I have you and you are so beautiful.”

“I don’t see how you think I am beautiful, I think I’m a bit too chubby. Those filthy rap lyrics about big butts really got to me.”

“Don’t be so hard on yourself. To me, you are the most beautiful girl I ever laid eyes on.”

“Oh, I love you so much!”

“And I love you just as much!”

We sweetly rub noses, then she pulls my face into her perky breasts. I feel great comfort in this position.

At that point, my sister walks onto the patio and says, “I’m going to tell mom and dad that y’all are acting lewd.”

“Get a life!” I tell her.

“I have a life but I don’t want to share my room with any baby you might make.”

My girlfriend is now irritated and asks with frustration, “Will we ever have any privacy?”

“We could if my parents would let you drive me to your house.”

“I wish they would.”

“You and I both. There’s so much I want to do with you!”

“And I want to do those things too!”

She then puts her arm around me and rubs my chest.

I look around for just a moment, then I see the empty house on my neighbor’s property, behind to their main one.

“I know where we can be alone.”

“Where?”

“See that little house back there? It’s empty and usually unlocked, we can go in there.”

“Let’s go there, then, but just know, I’d go anywhere if it meant we could be together.”

Hand in hand we cross the property line and enter the empty house.

It’s dark and dusty inside, but at least we now have privacy.

We go into the empty master bedroom and snuggle on the carpet.

She lays down on her back and I lay on top of her. We kiss wildly.

She pulls my face into her breasts once again and giggles saying, “No one can see us here!”

“You don’t know how happy I feel when my face is in your beautiful breasts!”

“You should feel happy because that is where it belongs!”

I then kiss her soft stomach.

“I feel so fat.” She says with a slight depression.

I kiss her stomach again and say, “That’s my fat and I think it is sexy!”

She wraps her arms and legs around me tightly and holds me close to her saying, “You make me feel so loved!”

We both get a very strong urge to become intimately known to each other but are equally afraid of the potential consequences…
…A FEW MOMENTS LATER…

*GETTING CAUGHT*

We are soon overpowered by our biological urges and quickly forget about the many potential consequences of underage intimacy. She pulls off my shirt and begins to unbutton my cargo pants. I unhook her overalls and pull them down, then I then take off her shirt.

We are now in our undergarments and staring at each other with gentle smiles. We embrace then begin to remove each others’undergarments as well.

Suddenly, we hear the front door unlocking.

My name is bellowed by my busybody neighbor from the other side of my parents’ house. He’s pretty tight with the owners of this house and apparently was watching our every move.

Both of us are extremely nervous now.

“Let’s hide in the closet, he used to beat me when I was younger,” I whisper to my girlfriend.

She nods nervously, then asks, “Do you think he will beat you again?”

“He might even beat you, I’m so sorry I put you in this position,” I reply, soberly.

“It would be worth it if it means we could still lose our virginity to each other,” She answers me softly.

We then grab our clothes and hide behind boxes in the closet.

Quickly we get dressed, by the light of my Garrity Mini Rugged Lite that I keep in my pocket.

We have our clothes on again as we hear my busybody neighbor walking through the house.

My girlfriend and I hold each other tightly, wondering whether we will get caught or not.

We share several kisses as we are somewhat turned on by the fear of getting caught.

We hear his footsteps approaching the bedroom.

Now the bedroom door is opening.

We both tremble, wondering if these containers will keep us concealed.

“I know you’re in here with that girl! And I am going to beat both of your a**es when I find y’all!” My neighbor bellows.

We hear the closet door open.

“Well, *blank* damn, where are they? I saw them come inside this house,” My busybody neighbor says angrily.

My girlfriend begins to tremble so much with fright that the boxes begin to fall and our hiding spot is revealed.

We see my neighbor is holding a thick leather belt in his hands as he says, “Now both of you are going to get it!”

We hold each other tightly with fear as he lashes us with that belt.

I flinch and nash my teeth. My girlfriend shrieks and cries in pain.

He then yanks us out of the closet and shoves us out of the house. He then escorts us to the property line where my parents are about to confront us…

…A WEEK OR TWO PASSES, THEN…
*ONLINE CONVERSATION*

My parents have now forbidden me from seeing her since we got caught in my neighbor’s vacant house.

Because of that cruel decision, my heart feels ripped to shreds and it feels there are a thousand knives in my back.

It’s late at night and I cannot sleep.

I walk to my family computer and log on.

After a few minutes of looking at Expage and ICQ, I hear that all too familiar “uh-oh” sound.

This means I have a private message.

It’s from the girl whom I am so deeply in love with but strictly forbidden to see.

It reads, “Hey. I miss you so much. You’re the sweetest boy I’ve ever met and my one true wish is that I was holding you in my arms right now. My mom is away on a business trip right now and I have the house to myself. I’m going crazy being in here all alone and being forbidden to see you makes it that much worse.”

“How did your mom react when she found out about us almost doing it?”

“She was okay with it, I mean that is why I am on birth control, to begin with.”

“You know, you are so worth the wait and as soon as I turn eighteen, I’ll run away and stay with you even if it means staying under a bridge.”

“You’re worth the wait too. You have such a sweet heart and you’re so cute.”

“I’m blushing, but it feels wonderful.”

“What are you doing up so late anyway?”

“To tell the truth; I’m thinking about you. I can’t stop thinking about you either. In fact, you’re all I think about these days. I wish my parents and extended family could see how happy you make me and that you’re actually good for me, despite what they think.”

“We’re separated by cruel people who just refuse to understand.”

“If only I could get away from them.”

“Maybe you can.”

“Well, maybe we could meet somewhere and I could take you to my mom’s house.”

“I don’t want to say where online, in case the government is watching.”

“Do you have any money on you?”

“Yes. Three ten-dollar bills. I’ve been saving them from doing odd jobs.”

“If you can sneak out, all you have to do it go to a truck stop, buy a phone card and call me from a pay-phone. Don’t say which one online, but I can come to pick you up when you tell me over the phone.”

“Sounds like a plan and a half.”

“That’s such a cute saying, of course, you’re cute already.”

“Okay let me pack my things and try to sneak out.”

“I’ll be waiting on my cell phone.”
…A FEW MOMENTS LATER…
*FORBIDDEN MEETING*

I then uninstall ICQ from the family computer to cover my tracks.

Then I grab my duffel bag and pack a few tee shirts underwear and pants, a box cutter and my 4 D cell Maglite for protection. Then I grab my wallet with the three ten-dollar bills and sneak out of the window.

I leave my parents’ yard and begin walking to the nearest truck stop.

I contemplate my life during this long walk, but finally, I’m there.

I go inside and purchase a phone card for a little less than $10.

Then I go to the payphone and place the call to my forbidden girlfriend.

It rings once and then she picks up.

“Hello,” She says in an unsure voice.

“It’s me,” I tell her.

“Hey, you!” She replies with affection.

I state the location of the truck stop over the phone.

“I’m coming right now.”

“I’ll hide so I cannot be seen, but I’ll signal you with my flashlight when I see your car. I blink the light at intervals of two blinks because we’re two years apart.”

“That’s so romantic in its own way. You’re so sweet and thoughtful.”

I hide in the bushes looking out for her Jetta Wagon.

Time crawls by at a snail’s pace.

I’m filled with both anxiety and anticipation.

Finally, I see that Jetta Wagon pulling up.

I remove myself from the bushes, then blink my flashlight while pointing at her windshield.

She slows down.

I blink my flashlight twice again.

She parks next to the bushes and I come to her car.

She rolls down the passenger window and says, “Hop in!”

I stand there and adore her for just a moment as she is dressed in a tight black shirt that hugs all of her beautiful curves and a knee-length black and white skirt that is sexy enough yet modest enough.

“Come on before someone sees us!” She says.

Most gladly I open the door, enter, place my bag and flashlight between my legs, buckle my seatbelt and she drives off into the night as we lovingly hold hands…

I admit now that this is quite a poor example of love between a boy and girl.  Honestly, as the title suggests, it is more of a fantasy, with some romance and infatuation attached.  However, there is a tremendously Greater Love that exists and is available to all who receive it.  And the best part is, there are none of the conditions or pre-requisites that the love between a man and a woman demands!

The First Time I saw “Ghostbusters”

I had known about the Ghostbusters movies since early childhood. However, I didn’t watch them until I was 27 years old. This piece will be my recollection of the first time I watched the original Ghostbusters movie and other events that happened on that day. By the way, I happened to take a selfie later that evening and that is my featured image. I was living in the Sugarland Subdivision of Raceland, Louisiana.

It was a sunny and mild day in late May of 2014. I believe it was either the 21st or the 27th.

My then-wife now ex-wife was laying down in bed and sleeping. I was sitting in the living room, listening to music on Pandora when I got the idea to stream a movie on Netflix. So, using the Roku Box, I pulled up Netflix and searched for movies. Then I saw that the original Ghostbusters from 1984 was available, so I took a chance and began watching it. The movie had my undivided attention, which very few movies do. I turned off the lights and closed all the blinds and watched. As I watched, I had realized that I was watching it on the thirty-year anniversary of the film’s release. I also was amazed by the technology, which seemed advanced for 1984. And I was particularly amused at Egon’s fondness for junk food. I finished the movie in one sitting, completely satisfied. This is the exact reaction all movies should have with their viewers!

Around the conclusion of the movie, my then-wife woke up from her nap and reminded me that I had to drive her to her nephew’s baseball game which was being held on the northern outskirts of Houma, Louisiana. Well, I figured I could find something to do since I never did like sports.

It was starting to get dark after the conclusion of the game, so I went to a truck stop for fuel, candy, and drinks. My then-wife caught me checking out a plus-sized female security guard at the truck stop but she didn’t hold it against me. For the record, she checked out guys all the time and was even vocal about it in front of my family, which was totally embarrassing for me. I had purchased an iced coffee and a Mister Goodbar, two things I would frequently purchase at this truck stop until my peanut allergy became increasingly worse. I forget what snack and drink my now ex-wife purchased.

Dusk had fallen and it was getting darker and darker. We drove back home and were now in Sugarland once again.

A truck had veered off the main highway and into a ditch in front of Sugarland Shopping Center. I got out of my car and attempted to assist those involved in the incident. The sun had almost completely set by this point, but I was carrying a 2 AAA sized Mini Maglite LED which was rated for 84 Lumens. That number 84 came up again! Some items had fallen out of the truck but I was able to locate them in the ditch which was thankfully dry. Then another good Samaritan came with cables and pulled the truck out of the ditch. I lit up the whole operation with my flashlight and I also directed traffic around the incident. An impatient motorist or two cursed me lower than a dog and I won’t repeat what they said.

Once everything was back to normal, I got in my car and drove home along with my then-wife, now ex-wife.

At some point later that evening I took a selfie and posted it to social media. That selfie is the featured image for this post. I was 27 at the time but could have probably passed off as 17, you decide.

Later that evening I took my medicine and eventually went to sleep, happy that I would be getting paid in just a few days. In the next few months, I would come to write and purchase some wonderful things. I would also watch the 1989 sequel to Ghostbusters on basic cable at my now ex-in-laws place that summer.

Ghostbusters is definitely one of my favorite movies, though it took me so long to actually get around to watching it. I’m also wondering if it had any inspiration for Goosebumps since the movie reminded me of an adult version of the television adaptations. I also frequently watched those on Netflix.

Now, this, I guess, therefore concludes my piece detailing the time I watched Ghostbusters for the first time. I hope you, the reader, have been informed and entertained.

Thank you for reading!

Scanner Drama

I initially wrote this story on the evening of January 31, 2004, into the morning hours of February 1, 2004.  I have subsequently edited it many times over the years, but, finally, I think it is presentable enough for you, the reader.  It is essentially a teen and young adult soap opera that takes place in the fictitious American port city of Melody.  I have not decided if Melody is on the Pacific or Gulf Coast but several of my other stories take place there.  This story also reflects my political views I harbored during my teen years.  Of course it is also a love story.

Without further ado, here it is:

It was a stormy Friday morning in the Port City of Melody. Grant West, an eighteen-year-old senior at Melody High School was getting ready for the day. It just so happened that on this day his parents decided to take a weekend vacation and he would be home alone for the weekend. His dad was a port security officer and got him a part-time job under the table at a maritime supply warehouse near the city dock. Grant planned to help with inventory for the weekend and make extra money. He was a lonely teen who mostly worked and didn’t have much of a life outside of it. He knew his trade well and planned to work full time for the warehouse upon graduating. From handling the various goods on his job; he realized their use. For some time now he made it his business to carry a police-style flashlight everywhere he went. He also carried a portable scanner and a pocket tool where he legally could. He had saved up some money and purchased a restored army surplus Jeep for his transportation. Due to all of his mannerisms, Grant seemed militant, uptight and weird to most of his peers. In reality; he was actually a kind and genuine person, who was misunderstood easily.

Grant drove off to school just making it in time for the first bell. The first class, Trigonometry was difficult, but in time the class period was over. His second-period class was a course on how to be prepared for the workforce. Naturally, it was a breeze for him as he already had a job and knew what to expect. The third class was gym, but there were no sports being played because of the stormy weather. He kept to himself for that period, until he saw Adrianna Parker. He had admired her from a distance but was hesitant to make a move because he was afraid of her rejecting him. She passed by and he just watched her, then smiled. She smiled back at him and made his heart skip a beat. Adrianna was a very friendly and pretty girl of seventeen going on eighteen. She was a very caring person but did not care for most of the people at this school. She was not a loner at all but did keep herself away from the ones who tended to be fake or cruel. She was in a clique all of her own, a free spirit. Adrianna spent her free time writing, though she never showed anyone her work. Many guys wanted her, but she was waiting for the right one to come. She wanted someone like one of the characters in her stories. She was sitting in the bleachers reading one of her stories from a composition book and noticed Grant was staring at her. She looked up and smiled at him. He smiled back and continued to stare.

“Would you like to come and sit with me?” She asked.

Grant answered, “Sure, I guess.” She motioned for him to come, to which he did.

He asked her, “So, why do you want me to sit with you?”

She giggled and replied, “Because I think you are cute and you remind me of some of the characters I write about.”

“I don’t see how.”

“Everything thinks of you as weird and you do scare people off. I, on the other hand, see you as a potential hero. You remind me of someone who could save a damsel in distress.”

Grant blushed then said, “Sure I guess, I don’t know.”

“I know,” Adrianna answered.

Grant then asked, “So what makes you think like that?”

She replied, “I am a writer and in the stories I write; male protagonists are just like you. I have them all written in here.” Adriana smiled and held up her composition book.

Grant blushed. There was a brief silence and Grant asked, “Well, could I see what your stories?”

Adriana smiled and said, “You may, but I would rather read them to you instead.”

Grant nodded and Adriana began to read aloud. The story came to a very sensual part. Both were beginning to feel romantic stirrings and both started to blush. Their eyes met and they prepared to kiss when, suddenly, the girls’ gym teacher saw them and shouted for them to separate.

“Let’s meet up later,” Adriana said and Grant nodded in agreement. About a minute later; the bell rang.

Grant began heading to his next class, carrying his gym shoes. They were a coveted pair by many that he purchased over the summer with some of the money he made while working. Suddenly; four guys from his gym class surrounded him and attempted to take the shoes. Lance Johnson, Benson Porter, Joe Price, and Bruce Gray.

Lance had made trouble with Grant ever since freshman year. He was a 17-year-old bastard and had no clue who his father was. Many admired his athletic skills, despite the fact that he had taken advantage of many innocent freshman girls.

Benson was not a problem for Grant up until recently. Mostly he was a show-off and had picked a few fights with him in gym class. Grant tried to ignore him, for the most part. Benson would get in Grant’s face and scream, just to mess with him. He was a lean muscular completely shaved 18-year-old football star.

Joe was also a football player and a tall well built red head of 18. There was a story going around that he was shot while trying to buy pills. The only reason for him not being expelled was that he was a star athlete. He survived the gunshot wound, but many students would make fun of him by saying “ready, aim fire”. This would anger him further.

Bruce was a short skinny and rich 17-year-old. He was not built like the others but still was a mess maker. From day one he had harassed Grant, and would make fun of him. He loved pointing out the flaws of others and also being a busy body. His weapon was that of a coward-spreading gossip.

Suddenly; Bruce took the shoes. Grant shouted, “Who the hell do you think you are? You have no right to take my shoes.”

Joe replied, “What are you going to do about it?”

Grant kicked Bruce in his instep and then in his groin, sending him to the floor, as he said, “That is what I am going to do.” He then took the shoes back.

Joe then attempted to take the shoes from Grant as he grabbed him and said, “I had a pair like these , but they were stolen. I’ll take these.”

Grant yelled as loud as he could, “Ready, aim, fire! You let me go or it will get ugly!” Grant thought that the scream would disorient his opponent. The opposite happened, Joe in a greater anger slammed him to the hard cement ground, then punched him in the face while the others kicked him from all sides. The bell rang and at the same time. Lance stomped on Grant’s groin.

Bruce licked Grant on his side and said, “That’s for kicking me, by the way no one likes you.” Joe handed the shoes to Benson and Lance kicked Grant once more. They left him there as he lay there weakened from his injuries bleeding slightly.

Adrianna was walking by and called out, “Oh my God. Grant are you okay?”

Grant answered, “Yes I think I’ll be.” She sat down next to him, and rested his head in her lap then asked Grant as she held him, “Who did this to you?”

Grant answered “I was attacked by four stupid jocks. ”

She rubbed his face gently as she said “Typical idiots. You didn’t deserve that. Grant looked up at Adriana, smiled and turned a little red. Adriana giggled and smiled back. Grant choked a little as he looked up into her eyes. There was an awkward silence for a moment then Adriana asked: “So what are you doing this afternoon?”

Grant said, “Oh I was thinking of doing inventory at my job.”

Adrianna pouted slightly and said, “Oh I see.” She paused and then said, “I was hoping we could do something together?”

Grant smiled and said, “Are you asking me out.”

Adrianna giggled and replied “Sure, you seem like a really wonderful guy. Would you say yes, if indeed I am asking you out?”

Grant smiled and said “Well I don’t exactly have to go in this weekend. My boss would understand, so yes I would love to.”

Adrianna smiled from ear to ear then threw her arms around Grant and kissed him. The tardy bell rang so they quickly programmed each other’s phone number into each other’s phone and then walked off.

The next two class periods went by slowly. Finally, the lunch period came and Grant met Adrianna in the quadrangle. Immediately after; they moved to a secluded area on the campus where they thought they would have privacy.

Soon they were deeply engaged in conversation, not realizing the four boys were listening in.

Grant answered Adrianna “…Well, I could drive you to the park and we can hang out there.”

Adrianna nodded and then said in disappointment “But what about the rain.”

“We could wait it out in my Jeep. I heard that this weather would be clearing out by the late afternoon.”

Adrianna giggled, then said, “While we are in the Jeep, would you like me to read you some more of my stories?”

Grant replied, “Sure, I can’t wait to hear them.” With that they passionately hugged each other, sharing several kisses, until Bruce secretly tattled.

Almost immediately, they were stopped by a duty teacher and both issued a Saturday school. The punishment did not stop their newly found affection for each other. Soon after the bell rang and they said their affectionate goodbyes then headed to class. They had no idea that Grant’s four attackers had been eavesdropping on them and planning to ruin their evening.

The rest of the day was filled with an excited anticipation of what was going to happen later that day. Finally, the dismissal bell rang and both Grant and Adrianna walked to the Jeep.

Grant opened the door for Adrianna to which she kissed him and said: “Thank you.”

He then sat in the driver seat and drove off, little did they know they were being followed. They arrived in the park and sat there in the Jeep as the rain was pouring. Out of habit, Grant looked out of his rearview mirror and saw that there was a pickup truck, pulling up close to them. Grant’s militant instincts kicked in and he said: “I think we are being stalked, that truck is parked awfully close to us.” He paused and then said, “Lock yourself in, I am going to try and neutralize this situation.”

Adrianna said, “Be careful Grant.” Just as he was about to get exit his vehicle and confront whoever was stalking him face to face, those four boys swarmed around Grant and Adrianna.

Benson getting closest to Grant’s side window. He punched Grant’s glass window open and attempted to pull Grant out. Thinking quickly Grant pretended to let Benson pull him out, but then took his 5 D sized Maglite flashlight from under the seat and whacked Benson in the head, knocking him out. Upon seeing this, Bruce fled the scene like a coward. Grant saw that Lance was invading on Adrianna’s side, climbed in and was trying to have his way with Adrianna. Grant got back in the Jeep and started it. He put it in drive and then gunned the engine. As he reached a high rate of speed, he then slammed his Jeep into an oak tree, causing Lance to be ejected from on top Adrianna and then through the windshield. Joe was angrier than ever before as he went to pull Grant from the wrecked Jeep and planned beat Grant to a pulp. Grant knew he was coming, again thought quickly and pretended to be injured. Joe crawled into Grant’s seat over him and Grant knew it was time to strike. He took his flashlight and stuck it into Joe’s throat, crushing the windpipe.

Grant and Adrianna were then put into a deep predicament, they knew the police were probably coming and their getaway ride was totaled.

Grant soberly said “I don’t want you to go down with me, Adrianna. Please get out of here while you still can.”

Adrianna shook her head, feverishly and told him “No, I will stand by you. You are a noble hero and you saved us.”

Grant said “Damn it we need to get out of here.” He took his flashlight and scanner, then removed the vehicle plate from his Jeep, then continued, “I can hide in the culvert outside of the park. Bruce fled the scene and won’t know where I am. The other three are incapacitated.” The sky began to turn blue, once again. Grant said “You need to get out of here Adriana. Is your house far from the park?”

She replied “My friend’s house isn’t.”

Grant replied “Good, then go there and see if she can take you to yours.”

She replied, kissing and hugging him passionately “All right Grant. If we don’t see each other again, know that I love you!”

Grant crawled into the culvert and Adriana left.

Not long after, Adriana made it to her friend’s house and then called Grant. He instantly picked up. Adriana said, “My friend is driving me to my house and I will get the family car and pick you up. I will then get you to safety.”

Grant replied and then said, “Thank you so much Adriana, and, just so you know; I love you too.”

“You didn’t have to say it because your actions already prove it!”

They hung up.

Minutes seemed to pass like hours.

Finally, Adriana came in her family car and picked Grant up. He stepped in the car just a the lightning flashed. Grant lied down in the backseat and Adriana said in a sultry voice, “Where to Mister?”

Grant replied “To freedom, Madame, to freedom!” He paused, then continued, “I took the plate off my vehicle, so I don’t think they will be able to figure out it’s mine, at least not for a while. Therefore, we can go to my house, you know just in case they see yours. With that, they rushed to Grant’s house and arrived just as the rain had begun to fall it’s hardest.

“What will they do when they find it it’s your car?”

Grant then said pointing to his scanner, “That’s where this wonderful device comes in.”

He turned it on. Chatter came in on the scanner “Melody 911 to Melody EMS; we have a report of three medical emergencies in the municipal park. Several males were involved in a 103-F. PD is already en route. Stand by for further traffic…” “Dispatch to Officer Nick…” “Go ahead…” What is your 10-20 and ETA?” “Melody Expressway and 2 minutes…” “Roll Code 3.” “10-4.”

Officer Nick turned on his lights and sirens and gunned his car, however, the road was very wet and he lost control. His car fishtailed off the road and crashed into the pillars of an overpass. He keyed into the radio which was picked up on Grant’s scanner “My unit has crashed, please send backup to Melody Expressway at Exit…My unit is on fire it just burst into flames…” And the scanner went silent. Then the Dispatcher came in on the scanner and said “Dispatch to Officer Nick.” No response was heard. She tried again “Dispatch to Officer Nick.” There was another silence.

Grant said, “As messed up as this may sound, I think we have bought us some time.”

Adrianna drove them in the rain to Grant’s parent’s house. As soon as they stepped out, they were soaking wet. Quickly, they entered the house they locked the doors. It was somewhat chilly in that house, so Grant took off his wet shirt. Adrianna threw her arms around him, as he was cold and wet. Grant was overcome by the feeling of Adriana’s gentle arms wrapped around his wet skin. He kissed her wildly. They fell onto the sofa and snuggled together. Adriana lay there with Grant up against her.

Soon their hormones began to get the better of them and Adrianna was starting to unbutton Grant’s slacks, when the scanner crackled in, “Dispatch, it turns out that a subject named Grant West was the assailant. I believe he is the son of Mark West in port security. I am on my way to search his house. He is probably hiding out there.” “Affirmative Jack. I’ll also notify the chief.”

Thinking quickly Grant removed the battery from his phone, to disable the GPS so he would not be tracked.

Meanwhile back at home Grant was in distress over what he had just heard on his scanner. Nervously, he said, “Did you hear all that Adriana? We have to get out of here now. Are you ready to leave?”

“Yes let’s do this thing baby!” She answered him and laughed a little.

Grant went into his room and grabbed his Leatherman Multi-Tool, along with his scanner and flashlight. He explained to Adrianna “I didn’t want to get caught with this Leatherman at school, but I don’t think I will be in school for a while.”

Ever so quietly they crept out of the house silently shutting the door behind them, then walked down the steps of the porch, then to Adriana’s family car. Adriana drove Grant to her house and they walked into her bedroom.

The weather had now cleared out and Grant said “I know how I can get away from the police. I will sneak out of the country but I will have to leave you here. I want to spare you this drama.”

Adriana began to sob and said “No, I want to come with you. I don’t care about any of this drama. Anyway, I feel like I am living out my stories.” She paused and then asked Grant “How will you be able to get out of the country, though?”

“That’s easy. All I have to do is get on a supply boat that is headed towards Archangel Island. There is one that is leaving tomorrow morning in fact.”

Adriana then asked “How do you know it will let you on?”

Grant answered “I work in the maritime supply industry so I have connections.”

Adriana smiled and then said, “Well I wish I could board the boat with you.”

Grant asked “Do you really want to be with me that much?”

Adriana nodded, as she spoke, “Most surely I want to be with you that much and more. I’ve never met anyone like you!”

Grant then said “I could possibly have them take you as well. But you will have to defect. The only problem is you are not yet 18.”

Adriana replied, “But I will 18 be in just a few days.”

Grant reluctantly agreed and then said, “All right then; are you ready?”

Adriana smiled and then said “Yes. I am ready.” Immediately she packed and then they left. They walked to Grant’s workplace under the cover of darkness holding hands and shivering.

Finally, they made it to the warehouse and Grant unlocked the door. They entered then locked the door behind them. Grant and Adriana sat down on the floor and there was silence. Not long after; hormones once again overtook them.

Grant whispered. “Adriana, you are the sweetest person I have ever met in my life. I know we haven’t been together for that long. Even with all this drama, being with you has made me happier than ever.” Grant then gently kissed Adriana on top of her head.

Adriana wrapped her arms around Grant and kissed him passionately as she said. “I never thought I would find someone who would treat me right, but then I find you. You are so sweet Grant, and you are very loyal. I am glad to have found you.”

They kissed each other once again and held hands.  Handholding led to cuddling.  Cuddling led to removal of clothing.  Totally naked, they began to loving caress each other genitals.  Caressing led to lovemaking. Passionately they became intimate in that storeroom. There was a silence but they were in pure bliss, as they both lost their virginity. After hours of lovemaking; they fell asleep snuggling next to each other for the rest of the night.

Early that next morning they stepped out of the warehouse. The cargo ship bound for Archangel Island was preparing to leave. Grant went to the captain, who was standing on the dock smoking a cigar.

He then spoke, “We need to get out of the country and I know you can help us?”

The captain answered, “I will get both you out of the country if you agree to pay me.”

Grant handed him the cash he had on hand, and his scanner and finally his G-Shock wristwatch.  Adrianna also handed him her diamond-studded earrings. The captain then said “All right come aboard.”

Grant and Adriana looked at each other, then agreed to go. They climbed aboard the ship and went below the deck and into the engine room to hide. After getting comfortable Adriana held his hand and kissed him passionately. Soon heard the engines of the cargo boat fire up and they started to move. All through the night, they kept moving. They spent several days and nights at sea, with Adrianna turning eighteen during the course of the voyage.  Finally, the boat docked. They climbed onto the deck of the ship and ran off.

Both were quickly detained and interrogated by a security officer.  Grant explained the situation saying “We are on the run from the American law and I know you’re government harbors defectors.” He paused then continued “I will be charged with second degree murder, but I assure you it was all in self-defense.” Grant paused and then said, “And I assure we will not cause trouble on this island.” The guard said “Self defense, huh?  Tell me how it happened.”

Grant replied “Well I would love to. Three guys surrounded my Jeep, with my girlfriend in it. One punched my driver’s side window in and pulled me out. I thought quickly and struck him in his head with this flashlight, Grant showed him the 5 D sized Maglite. He fell to the ground and did not get back up. The next one tried to have his way with Adrianna and came in on the passenger seat and climbed on top of her. I started my engine gunned it and then crashed it into an oak tree, sending him through the windshield and into the tree, he didn’t get up. Finally I pretended to be injured in the crash as the third one came to me. He thought I was knocked out and was about to kill me when I again used this flashlight again and struck his windpipe. He fell to the ground and did not get up. I learned these tactics working in the maritime industry. The company I worked for supplies your island’s government with tactical gear.

Impressed the security officer replied “I assure both of you, do not worry about anything. Our government will not allow extradition. You are safe here. Furthermore are constantly looking for security forces. I would be more than happy for you to work under me.” He paused then continued, “You see, we have much trouble with pirates and insurgents, constantly trying to invade.”

Grant smiled and said, “My dad works for port security back in the States so I am that much more familiar with the trade.”

The officer continued, “I promise you top pay and protection from any foreign entity if you agree.” Grant nodded his head, then spoke, “Sure, I’ll take the job. What other choice do it have?” He then looked at Adrianna, and she smiled at him.

The security officer then looked at Adrianna and said, “And for you, young lady, we are in constant need of nursery workers.”

“Sure, I’ll do whatever you need me to do,” Adrianna answered.

“Good. Now both of you will be escorted to the refugee camp until a dwelling can be built for both of you.”

This may seem like a wonderful love between a young man and his newly found girlfriend, but I admit it is more or less an example of strong emotion and maybe a great desire of freedom and thrill seeking.  After all it is a teen drama that I wrote as a teenager!  There is, however, a much Greater Love and it is available to all who wish to receive it.  The best part is that it doesn’t have the conditions or prerequisites that are associated with carnal love!

The Evolution of EDC (Mid 2000s to Late 2010s)

On one side of the featured image is a Victorinox Recruit ii Swiss Army Knife and an incandescent Mini Maglite, circa, 2005/2006.

On the other side of the featured image is a Gerber US1 pocket knife and an LED Mini Maglite, circa, 2018.

In this piece, I will try to write what I observe in the evolution of EDC or everyday carry.

I had first seen the Swiss Army Knife and Mini Maglite combination sold at Target in 2006 while I was a senior in high school. This prompted me to start carrying a Swiss Army Knife and a Mini Maglite everywhere I could, though I carried different models than what was sold at Target. I carried them everywhere I legally could and I also tried to get other guys to do so as well, with very limited success. That was the top of the line EDC for the mid 2000s. LED technology had not advanced enough yet, but the Mini Maglite was well established as a tried and true favorite. The Swiss Army Knife was even more established. Since I was still in high school, I couldn’t legally carry any type of knife on me, but I definitely carried the flashlight. I didn’t actually own the featured combination until April of 2016 when I purchased it as new old stock on eBay. I guess I was feeling reminiscent of my high school days. By the way, this Mini Maglite was bundled with a Swiss Army Knife.

Since 2005/2006 EDC gear has advanced considerably, both in knives becoming more tactical and therefore rugged. LED technology in flashlights has also vastly improved allowing them to give off more and more light for longer and longer runtimes. Flashlights have become more tactical and therefore rugged as well. Maglite was one of the earlier tactical flashlight models to choose from, but now they are not the most tactical. They are also not the brightest. However, they are built very well in the USA. The brand as I’ve said before is also better well established than any of these Chinese tactical brands that may be brighter.

In 2018 or so I had first seen the Mini Maglite LED and Gerber US1 sold at Wal Mart. Target has been dwindling their selection of flashlights. Well Wal Mart has too, but Target did far worse. At a church Christmas party I received a gift card to Wal Mart. I knew I would be purchasing that aforementioned combination. To this day, a little over a year later, I still carry them in my EDC backpack. This is not the top of the line for EDC in the lates 2010s and early 2020s, but both of these items are American made. The Mini Maglite appears the same on the outside as it did in 2005/2006, but it has a robust LED light engine instead of a vacuum bi pin bulb. Instead of giving off 9 Lumens it gives off 100 Lumens. Plus the light engine is quite rugged and never needs to be replaced. The knife appears to be more tactical than a Swiss Army Knife, though it doesn’t have all the features. There has been a trend that started some time ago to make all knives look more tactical. I don’t know if this is a good or a bad thing. This knife really is not a tactical knife, just a simple everyday model. However, it goes well with the Mini Maglite LED.

In 2005/2006 being more fashionable and almost European, for lack of a better word, was the trendy thing. This was especially the case in stores like Target. However in the late 2010s and looks like the early 2020s being tactical is the trendy thing. I don’t know how long the tactical trend will last, but it has caught on to every store almost.

These trends have bled over into the world of EDC at least to some degree.

I wish we could marry both ideas!

I cannot wait to see what new EDC gadgets will be put on the market throughout the 2020s, but it would be something if they were both tactical and fashionable at the same time.

I wish Victorinox (Swiss) would make some tactical models, but that is mostly an American and maybe a Chinese thing. The rest of the world doesn’t emphasize the value of a tactical gadget. I appreciate tactical grade because it will stand up to more abuse.

I’d like to elaborate more on this, but my back is starting to hurt me.

This therefore concludes my piece of the evolution of EDC items.

A Review of the Olight I3E EOS

Just for the record, I do not own the featured image.  I must give credit where credit is due and I downloaded it from Google Shopping.

Money was tight for me during the month of December 2019.

Usually each month I am able to get something for myself.

However, money was so tight that I wasn’t able to.

But, for a Cyber Monday 2019 deal, I was able to get an Olight I3E EOS keychain flashlight for next to nothing.

The flashlight was free, but I still had to pay $5.00 for shipping. So I did.

Cyber Monday was December 2, 2019.

My disability pension is paid on the 3rd of every month, but somehow I get my money on the 2nd at 10:00 PM local time.

The deal ended at 11:00 PM and I was actually nervous that supplies would run out.

I monitored all day on Cyber Monday, then when 10:00 PM rolled around I checked my account and the money was in.

Happily, I paid the $5.00 for shipping on Olight’s Store website and the next day my order was processed.

Then I paid the other bills that I could and went to bed.

My flashlight was delivered a few days later and it has been carried in my EDC backpack ever since.

I first saw one of these in person a few months prior to this at my Aunt’s house. Her daughter, my first cousin, had one on her key-chain that her husband got as a gift when he purchased some hunting supplies.

Now, I am very accustomed to seeing high end Chinese flashlights like NiteCore, Klarus, and of course, Olight.

However just about everyone around me usually purchases flashlights at brick and mortar establishments, especially my family members, so I was very shocked to see my cousin in possession of a flashlight made by Olight. Her Dad actually gave me my first flashlight some 31 years ago almost to the date.

I tried hers out and was thoroughly impressed by the brightness. I was secretly wanting one but had no plan to purchase.

Actually, since June of 2019, I had been EDCing a Klarus MI6 on my keys. I definitely should write a review about my Klarus MI6 too one day, but I’ll admit the Olight I3E EOS is much sexier. They are definitely in the same class of flashlights and one was possibly the answer to the other.

This light is definitely powerful, especially for its minimal size.

I think it could be a hit with school children who want to attach it to the zippers on their backpacks.

Let’s teach children that flashlights are cool (which they indeed are cool and I don’t care who you are!)

Besides, when I was a kid I was harassed for liking flashlights and that did a good bit of damage to me mentally, of which I still haven’t fully recovered and I’m 32 about to be 33.

…Enough about that…

According to website specs, the Olight I3E EOS has the following:
a Beam Distance of 144 Feet.
a Light Output of 90 Lumens.
a Power Source of 1 AAA Alkaline or NiMH Battery.
a Beam Intensity of 500 Candlepower
a Run Time of 45 Minutes on an Alkaline Battery or 1 Hour and 10 Minutes on a NiMH Battery
a Waterproof Rating of IPX8.
a Weight or 0.68 Ounces or 19.4 Grams.
a Length of 2.38 Inches or 60.5 Millimeters
a Philips Luxeon TX LED Light Engine.

The flashlight is operated by turning the head to switch on or off. The head also is what keeps the battery in. The key ring attaches to the tail which is a permanent and continuous part of the flashlight body. THIS is a genius and very necessary design!

Most key chain flashlights have a tail cap to access the battery and keep it in place, but this is a fatal error when the key ring attaches to the tail cap:

When attached to keys or even just a lanyard the constant motion unscrews the tail-cap and the body of the flashlight falls off and is lost to only God knows where.

And equally only God knows how many Maglite Solitaires and similarly designed flashlights have suffered this very fate!

Now while this flashlight is indeed powerful for its size, I think some run time was sacrificed for light output.

As stated before, the user only gets 45 Minutes of use with an Alkaline Battery but a very bright 90 Lumens.

However, this flashlights is for brief lighting for nightly situational awareness or locating a lost item that fell into a dark spot. This is not for any tactical situation or much less a search and rescue mission.

I still think 90 Lumens is overkill, especially since so much run time was highly sacrificed.

Maybe it could have been bumped down to 50 or 60 Lumens with a run time extended to 1.5 to 2 hours, but then there wouldn’t be such a “Wow!” factor when the light is turned on. Maybe just a few years ago there could have been, but not in 2019.

My other complaint is: Exactly how secure is the head and LED lamp module on this flashlight? It seems to turn much too easily which could lead to accidental activation or worse a misplaced head. I think it should have been machined with much tighter threading, but that’s just me.

I could be wrong, of course. I mean it moves around in the pouch of my EDC backpack a durn good bit and has yet to have an accidental activation.

But this still makes a great EDC item, but shouldn’t be the main EDC item.

It would indeed make a great gift, especially for bae!

It could also make a gift for a child as I’ve stated before.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if class was being taught and the power went out but all the students turned on their flashlights that they were carrying?

…I know I’m being a dreamer…

I don’t have anything else to say, so this therefore concludes my review of the Olight I3E EOS.

All in all, I give this product a 4.65 out of 5 stars.

I hope you, the reader, have been informed and entertained…

A Review of the Bushnell TRKR T750L Multi Use Flashlight

Just for the record, I do not own the featured image on this page. I downloaded it from Wal Mart’s website.

I have been a fan of Bushnell flashlights since the late Spring of 2014 when I saw them selling at Wal Mart.

By the way, every time I go to Wal Mart, I always check out the flashlights section.

In November of 2014, in fact on Black Friday, I purchased the Bushnell T125L, which I sold in late 2018. I was so impressed by it, that a few days later, I purchased the Bushnell T225L, which I still have. Then in March of 2015, I purchased a Bushnell Pro 100L, also of which I still have. These three have since been updated by Bushnell with brighter LED engines.

Since I always check out the flashlights at Wal Mart every time I shop there, I had long wanted the Bushnell T750L. However, with me being on a fixed income, I cannot frequently fork over almost $40 ($32.44+tax) for a flashlight, no matter how cool it may be.

So I scraped some cash here and there and then finally on December 26, 2019, I went to my local Wal Mart and purchased a Bushnell T750L, which is what this review will be about.

This review will be more of less of my initial reactions, since I have maybe owned it for a little over twenty four hours.

I know this flashlight is mainly targeted towards hunters and I don’t hunt simply because I cannot afford to.  I would love to go hunting but there is so much red tape entailed in being allowed to do so.  Then there is all the required equipment which can go into the tens of thousands of dollars.  If I could afford to hunt, I definitely would, because I would like being able to have a lot of good, healthy meat and to bless others with it as well.  And not only that, I find shooting guns to be very therapeutic!

However, I can find other uses for this flashlight and if there is anything I am good at it is finding non-conventional uses for certain products.

There are three lighting systems on this flashlight:

The main White Cree LED that gives off 750 Lumens for 6.5 Hours with a Beam Distance of 280 Meters-Quite possibly my brightest LED flashlight at the moment and used for general purpose illumination.

4 Red LEDs that give off 16 Lumens for 80 Hours but Wal Mart’s website didn’t specify the beam distance-These are designed for any night time activity without disrupting night vision.

4 Off-Blue LEDs that give off 6 Lumens for 93 Hours with a Beam Distance of 7 Meters-These allow hunters to find and follow the blood trails of wounded game at night.

The durable Aircraft Aluminum body is designed to withstand a 1 Meter drop on a hard surface.

The tactically correct switch allows for a momentary on in any mode.

The power source is 6 AA Alkaline batteries, which fit snugly and securely inside and come bundled for free.

I wish the light cycling system could be custom programmed instead of White-Red-Off Blue.

If it were possible, I would have programmed it to Off Blue-Red-White, so night vision would not be adversely affected whilst initially turning the flashlight on.

However, there is an advantage to that setup and it is self defense tactics.

A full 750 Lumen White light could definitely disorient any opponent in total darkness.

Then the size and weight of this flashlight make it the perfect impact weapon, yet it can still be mostly concealed.

This could definitely be a hit with security personnel, especially those employed at truck stops or marine terminals.

If you could get over that bright White light coming first, then this flashlight could also be a hit with nighttime transportation and logistics workers, because the Red LEDs are generous enough with light to see whatever you’re doing, but won’t adversely affect your night vision.

Then of course there are the Off Blue LEDs, which are for following the blood trails of wounded game at night. This is the main selling point of this flashlight with hunters.

I did drop mine on a hard floor by accident, but it still performs flawlessly and doesn’t even have a ding on it!

I might sometimes carry this in my EDC backpack, because it is indeed compact enough.

I will say that there are very few good flashlights still sold at Wal Mart, when just a few years ago there were plenty.

Wal Mart also sells a very limited variety of Maglites as well, way much less than in previous years.

This downward trend began in 2018 and now we are in a death spiral as far as I’m concerned.

There may be hope like there may not be hope.

All in all I give this product a 4.9 out of 5 stars and the tenth of a point is debatable to begin with, because some may find the light cycling system useful while other may find it detrimental. It all depends on the end user.

This therefore concludes of review of the Bushnell TRKR T750L Multi Use Flashlight.

I hope you, the reader, have been informed and entertained…

Reunion and Tragedy-Written in May of 2003

I initially wrote this in May of 2003 but edited it many times over. The grammar and wording still need work, but as always please be patient and try not to nit-pick. I attempted to capture the raw emotion I was feeling back then but I’m not sure I have done that well. It might not always be a good thing to trade emotion for better wording. My sixteen-year-old self would definitely agree. I guess we all fall prey to the big conformity machine somehow, though some more than others. However, this story still hits close to home in many ways for me. There are some choices my characters in this story make that I would not advise doing ever, but my mindset was different in 2003 than it is now (2016-present.)

DISCLAIMER:
Let me first say that most people working in law enforcement are decent and honest individuals who want to make their communities safer. While I do agree that the less-than-ethical ones need to be weeded out, every human being that ever lived has at one point in his or her life been less-than-ethical. But this story isn’t even about corrupt law enforcement, it just briefly mentions the subject. With that being said, kids and teens everywhere, if you have a neighbor that is abusing you, tell your parents, teachers or another trusted adult. Have them contact law enforcement for you so you will be taken seriously. Don’t ever confront or antagonize abusive people, but rather let the law handle it. Only resort to violence with an abusive person if you feel your life or body is in immediate danger.  Now that I have preached this, please enjoy the story….

Between late May and late July of 2003…
This story starts off with a sixteen-year-old boy named Marshall Elks. He and his mom are preparing to have visitors at their house:  A woman, Miss Rayne and her daughter Elizabeth Rayne who was about seventeen. Marshall and Elizabeth were close friends as young children, though they were quite shy of each other. Unfortunately, they became separated many years ago.

Now that you have the background to the story, (look at me I broke the fourth wall) I will bring you into the plot already in progress:

“Marshall, you remember Elizabeth Rayne, right?”

“Of course I do. I think about her every day.”

“How would you feel if I told you that she was coming to visit us?”

“I would be overjoyed!”

“Well, she and her mother will be here in about two hours.”

“You’re joking, right?”

“Nope. Serious as a heart attack.”

“Then I’ll get ready.”

“Good idea, Marshall.”

With that, he went into the bathroom where he scrubbed his body and hair, then shaved. Afterward, he brushed his teeth and rinsed his mouth.

Marshall wanted to appear as neat as possible for Elizabeth, as he had feelings for her those many years ago. In actuality, those feelings had never left him, but instead multiplied and strengthened. His only hope was that somehow, even after these twelve long years, Elizabeth would feel the same way.

He paced the floors nervously, awaiting Elizabeth’s arrival. Finally, he heard the minivan pull up and saw Elizabeth stepping out of it with her mom. Marshall watched them through the transom as they walked to the door, then rang the bell. Immediately he opened the door and beheld Elizabeth face to face.

He choked up and blushed but then regained his composure as he spoke to her, “”I’ve been wanting so badly to see you again for such a long time.”

Elizabeth smiled from ear to ear and giggled, then embraced him.

Marshall continued, “Do you even remember me?”

Elizabeth hugged him tighter, then looked into his eyes as she said, “I’ve thought about you every single day since we last saw each other. I’ve missed you so much. If only you knew.”

Marshall smiled, and said, “I am elated that we have this chance to meet again!”
He hugged her once more and then they came inside.

The two mothers began talking.

Mrs. Elks asked Ms. Rayne,  ““So what brings you back out here?”

“I got behind on my rent and we were eventually evicted. So we loaded up my van with what we could take and headed back east. I called you on my cell phone but I didn’t want to say we were homeless over the phone.”

“Don’t worry you can stay here as long as you like. I don’t think Marshall would mind.”

“I don’t think Elizabeth would mind either, look how gaga they are over each other.  However, I am a little concerned since I’m a single parent and I hope they don’t make the same mistakes as me.”

“I think if they did, they would stick with each other, they’re so much in love. If you would have seen their faces.  And furthermore, I’m now a widow.  Barry’s death left a huge void in my life.”

“Barry was indeed a good man.  What happened?”

“His passionate temper got the best of him and he stroked out.  As much as he had that temper, though he was always good as gold to me and Marshall.”

…So…

After a long drive and a tiring day, Ms. Rayne and her daughter Elizabeth unpacked their few items and settled in at the Elks’ house.

They each took a sofa in the living room and Marshall went lay down in his bed. He tried to sleep, but couldn’t. He was much too excited that the girl he had feelings for so long was finally under the same roof as him. He grabbed his Energizer Find Me flashlight, walked out of his room and saw Elizabeth laying down on the sofa, staring at the ceiling. The yellowish-white glow from Marshall’s flashlight frightened her briefly, but then she smiled from ear to ear when she realized it was him.

“Would it be all right if you came to my room?” Marshall asked with slight nervousness.

Elizabeth brightly beamed and nodded, then hand in hand they walked to his room.

They sat on his bed, awkwardly, but then Marshall spoke, ““Elizabeth, you’re just as sweet as I remember and even more beautiful now that you’re a young lady. I’ve been in love ever since we met as children, I just didn’t realize it until after you left. I want you to be by my side now and forever.  And my only hope is that we’ll never be away from each other again.”

Elizabeth held Marshall’s hands and pulled his head into her breasts as she spoke, “I too had feelings for you back then. I thought we would always be near each other and grow up together. I was crushed when I had to move far away. But, now, we have a chance to be together again. I cannot promise that we’ll never be away from each other again, but I definitely want to cuddle with me throughout the night and every night afterward if at all possible.”

Their lips met, guided by the glow of Marshall’s flashlight.

After sharing that very sweet kiss, they lovingly held each other close and talked into the night. At sunrise, Elizabeth returned to the sofa without either mothers’ detection.

The next day, Mrs. Elks woke Marshall up and said, “”Miss Rayne and I are going shopping. I want you to take Elizabeth to the park and show her a good time.”

He nodded.

Elizabeth was already up and she winked at Marshall.

The two mothers left the house.

Marshall and Elizabeth got ready.

“We can take my old Buick Regal to the park.”

They walked out of the house and began to lean against Marshall’s car and lovingly caress each other until they were confronted by Marshall’s bullying neighbor, Boyd Bachmann.

“Stop that *word I no longer use in my writing* right now!” He shouted at them.

“Just ignore him,” Marshall whispered in Elizabeth’s ear.

She nodded and they continued to engage in their passionate affections.

Boyd came back with a long broomstick and shouted, “If y’all don’t knock it off right now, I’m going to take this stick and beat both of your *words I no longer use in my writing*!”

“This is none of your business, Boyd, go home!” Marshall shouted.

Boyd replied, “Marshall, I beat your *word I no longer use in my writing* when you were a little boy and I’m not afraid to do it again.”

“I’ll call the cops if you touch him,” Elizabeth said.

“I know the sheriff; his men won’t touch me. Furthermore, I’ll tell any deputies that come here what you and Marshall were doing in that house.”

“But we didn’t do anything wrong in there,”  Elizabeth protested.

“It’s my word against yours and my word speaks louder because I am a working, tax-paying, property-owning, contributing member of society and y’all are just teenage punks and your mothers are on government assistance!”

Marshall gave *half the peace sign* to Boyd.

“Did you just flip me off you little *word I no longer use in my writing*?”

Marshall said, “Yes I did flip you off.”

Boyd then struck Marshall across his back with the broomstick.

“That’ll make y’all stop. Y’all think that y’all can act like dogs in heat, but it’s not going to happen while I’m around. And I’m going to beat both of your *words I no longer use in my writing* again if y’all talk back.”

“Well *word I no longer use in my writing* you, Boyd,” Marshall said.

Boyd punched Marshall in the face, knocking him to the cement, then struck him several times with his broomstick.

“Now, I’m going call the cops on both of you,” Boyd said, then walked back to his house.

Elizabeth said in distress, “Come, on Marshall, let’s get out of here.”

“Can you drive us, Elizabeth? I’m hurt.” Marshall asked.

She nodded and they stepped into Marshall’s Buick and started it.

They drove off but then Marshall saw Boyd’s truck in passenger-side mirror. He began to shake with anxiety.

“I love you so much, Marshall!”  Elizabeth looked at him and said, beaming.

“I love you too…”  Marshall replied as his voice trembled at the sight of Boyd following them.

Elizabeth saw his distressed appearance and asked, “What’s the matter?

“That good for nothing Boyd Bachmann is following us.”

“Should I tap your brakes?” Elizabeth asked.

Marshall nodded and Elizabeth tapped the brakes.

Boyd flashed a revolver at them.

Elizabeth saw and sped off. Boyd followed just as fastly. There came a change in the weather and it began to storm. Elizabeth slowed down because of the wet road. Boyd continued following them.

“Maybe we can lose him if we get on the freeway?” Marshall said.

“That’s what I’ll do then,” Elizabeth replied.

They approached the on-ramp and began to make the semi-circle on that part of the cloverleaf.

Boyd followed.

They began to switch lanes, but Boyd continued to angrily pursue them. Suddenly Elizabeth lost control and Marshall’s Buick struck a Propane truck. There was a huge fireball that overtook the car.

They were both killed in the fire, but they were in love so much it did not matter. Now they are together for all eternity. The fire was like absolute zero compared to the warmth of [the passionate] love they shared.
