Annabelle Jenkins Converts to Christianity-A Disabled Electrician turned Writer

Annabelle and I walk lovingly but in silence to my house.

We are now at the gate, which I open for her.

She enters, then I enter and we cut across the front yard, up my steps and on the front porch and into my door.

I unlock it and we enter.

Annabelle and I sit down on my sofa, then she says urgently, “My daddy always claimed he was a child of God and therefore will go to Heaven when he dies. I want to be a child of God too!”

I reply, “I’ll do my best to explain it to you and I just hope and pray that you believe me because I also want you to be a child of God, Annabelle, more than anything else!”

“Then I definitely want to be a child of God. What must I do?”

I gently look at her and say, “We are all sinners and deserve to go to a sinner’s hell.”

I pause. Annabelle looks at me in distress.

I continue, “God does not want that to happen though, because He loves us immensely.”

Annabelle smiles slightly at me.

“Still our sins must be paid for and the payment required is very high. It is so high it requires us to spend eternity in hell paying for it.”

Annabelle becomes distressed again.

I continue, “Someone paid that price for us and in full. God was also satisfied with the payment. That someone is Jesus Christ. He went to the cross and suffered terribly to pay for the sins of mankind because He loves us that much. He loves you more than I ever could.”

Annabelle looks a little relieved but still in some distress.

I continue, “Annabelle what you must do, is first off acknowledge that you are a sinner deserving of hell. Then you must realize that Jesus Christ loves you and took your punishment, but you have to be willing to invite Him into your life and rule your life. Accept Him as your Lord and the Savior from your sins. Believe that His payment is sufficient.”

“How do I do that?”

“Just talk to Him sincerely, but please do it as soon as possible because this is the most important thing you will ever do.”

I pause then continue, “Just pray to Him, and in that prayer, invite Him as your personal Lord and Savior and ask Him to save your soul and rule your life. If you truly mean it and you truly believe what I am telling you, then you will become a child of God.”

Annabelle closes her eyes and bows her head reverently.

Tears begin to flow from her eyes and a smile comes to her face.

“I believe it all! And yes I have asked Jesus Christ to save me and rule my life. In fact, I am feeling very guilty about living with you and having sex with you even though we’re not married, but I have nowhere else to go.”

“That is the Holy Ghost convicting you of sin and yes I have felt guilty of this too, believe me. It’s just I love you so much and I never want to lose you, so that is why I slept with you.”

“If I would have known exactly how wrong having sex with you was, I wouldn’t have done it, but what is done is done and I am glad we’re getting married now because I definitely feel the need to. By the way, you’re so sweet to me, you would have never lost me.”

“Then we need to find a church to start going to and we need to marry as soon as possible.”

“Would you be offended if I slept in your extra bedroom until we are married?”

“Not at all. If you feel that is what the Holy Ghost is telling you, then listen to Him by all means.”

“I love you so much Johnny, thank you for being understanding.”

“I love you too, Annabelle and I am immensely joyous that you are saved. I’ve been wanting you to be saved ever since I met you, it’s just I’ve been in a terribly backslidden state myself.”

“This means I will see my daddy again when I die. To tell the truth, I was angry at God for years for taking him away from me, but now I know that God has him safe and sound and I thank Him for that.”

“And you are just as safe, it’s just you’re on this side of Glory.”

We then begin to make dinner.

I take some white beans from my freezer and heat them up in a pot…
